Dog Bite Prevention: Keeping Kids and Dogs Safe
Every dog has the potential to bite. 4.5 million people in the US are bitten by dogs every year, usually from a dog they know. Certified trainer and behavior consultant Chris Coppola will explain signals dogs use to communicate they feel uncomfortable and might bite, how to successfully manage child-dog interactions, and mistakes adults often make when supervising. She will also explain what kids should do if a strange dog approaches, what to do if your dog has a bite history, and provide general tips everyone should know. If you are a teacher, a parent, or someone who owns a dog, this presentation is for you. Resources will be provided and there will be time for Q&A after the presentation. Recommended for ages 12+.
