Fees to residents eliminated January 1, 2023
The Town of Clifton Park has continued to add convenient services for residents at the Transfer Station. For many years, the town has been on the forefront of offering a collection point for the proper disposal and recycling of electronics. The structure of collecting electronic waste is changing throughout New York State beginning January 1, 2023. An additional fee will be charged on various electronic products at the time of purchase and the funds will be used to pay for the collection and disposal of electronic products. The Town is continuing its contract with the current company that has been picking up electronics at the Transfer Station to ensure we provide a convenient drop off option for Clifton Park residents. It is important to note, the new structure of the collection program ensures the Town is no longer charged for picking up the electronic products and the only charge to residents will be the additional fee at the time of purchasing a new product.
“Clifton Park proactively began to offer a drop off location for unwanted electronic products many years ago, and our commitment to this effort continues under the new program, said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. The new program eliminates any charges during the collection and handling of electronics prior to the disposal or recycling of the products.”
