All persons on the Barney Road Golf Course shall observe the following rules and regulations:

• All players must pay their appropriate fees at the Course Cottage before starting to play, including but not limited to greens fees and golf carts.
• All players shall start playing only at number one tee and shall not play at any time until the players ahead are out of range. All players shall play holes in order 1-9.
• Every person must obey the directions of the Course Staff with reference to order of play, practicing and behavior on the grounds.
• Children under 6 years not permitted on the course.  Children under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older, who accepts responsibility for their safety and behavior.
• No person shall be on the golf course after dark or after the closing hour.
• No person shall litter the grounds with waste material.
• No motorized vehicles are permitted on the course unless authorized by Office of Parks and Recreation and/or Buildings and Grounds Department.
• No person shall bring animals on the grounds of the golf course.
• Players should always show consideration for other players on the course and should not disturb their play by moving, talking or making unnecessary noise.  Players should ensure that any electronic device taken onto the course does not distract other players.
• No groups of more than four players permitted. When the course is crowded, the Course Staff may require that “foursomes” be formed.
• Keep pull carts and golf bags 20 feet from tees, greens and traps.
• No person shall approach or otherwise hit a golf ball onto or towards a green when in close enough proximity for the ball to reach the green, if players are on the green or after a golf course employee has removed the flag on the green for maintenance purposes, and shall not approach or hit the ball until the flag has been reset and the player or golf course employee is off the green.
• It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.
• Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn to play. When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green.
• Players looking for lost golf balls (5 minutes maximum), must wave players through.
• Players should carefully repair any divot holes made by them and any damage to the putting green made by the impact of a ball (whether or not made by the player himself). On completion of the hole by all players in the group, damage to the putting green caused by golf shoes should be repaired.
• Appropriate shirts and shoes must be worn at all times. No tank tops, bathing suits or bathing suit tops will be allowed. Shoes should be golf shoes (must be soft spikes) or flat bottom tennis shoes.  No shirt or item of clothing should have any profanity or offensive slogans, logos, pictures or content.
• No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the golf course.
• All leagues, tournaments and special events shall be scheduled with Office of Parks and Recreation.
• All players agree to the above rules simply by purchasing greens fee.  Failure to abide by U.S.G.A. or Course Rules & Regulations may result in the immediate withdrawal of golf privileges with no refund.  The Office of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to remove or refuse services to those persons not abiding by the above rules and regulations.

The Town of Clifton Park has announced a photograph contest spotlighting the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve. Entries will be accepted electronically between August 15^th and December 1^st, 2024, by the Office of Parks and Recreation at This email address is being protected from spambots. All are invited to submit their best photographs taken at the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve. The photographs should highlight the preserve, historic sites, nature and/or wildlife within. There is no limit on the number of photographs that may be submitted by an individual. Anyone may submit a photograph if it is their property, and it was taken at the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve.

There will be a two-round public voting process.  In round one photographs will be displayed on Facebook from December 9^th through December 18^th, 2024, for public voting.  To vote for a photograph simply “Like” the photograph on Facebook.  The five photographs with the most votes will be displayed at Town Hall and on the Town’s website (www.CliftonPark.org) and will move onto the final round of voting.

The final round of voting will take place at Winterfest. The top five photographs will be printed and displayed on Saturday, February 1^st, 2025. Visitors to Winterfest will be able to cast their vote in person for the overall winner.

A grand prize will be awarded as well as prizes for the top five photographs.

The Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve Photo Contest was created to highlight and showcase the beauty and character and historic significance of the Preserve.

The Preserve encompasses over 600 acres of historically and ecologically significant land adjacent to the Mohawk River, within the Vischer Ferry Historic District. The Preserve has three areas of interest: a wetland ecosystem, the remains of the Erie Canal, and the site of the town's first Settlement. The Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve is open to all for study, recreation and enjoyment of its natural beauty. Miles of trails are used for hiking, bike riding and cross-country skiing. The Preserve has been recognized as an Audubon site for bird watching and is designated a Bird Conservation Area by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Hiking along the old Erie Canal towpath is a popular activity for historians and nature lovers, featuring the historic remains of Clute's Dry Dock and Lock 19.

We have some policy updates for the upcoming 2023 summer!

We no longer designate “primary pool”; your membership allows you full access to all three town pools, and you may now bring guests to any of the pools. Each membership is allowed to bring unlimited guests (regardless of residency) on SEVEN OCCASIONS. Guests are no longer considered “out of town” or “local.” The guest fee remains a low cost of $5 per person, with children aged 3 and younger free.

As a reminder (not changed from previous years):

• Extended family members can be added to a family membership. The extended family member MUST be living in the same household on a full-time basis.
• Members are required to provide their town pool photo id for admission to the pool. We cannot make exceptions. Please be prepared to show ID to the gate attendant.
• Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (an adult is anyone aged 18 and older).
• Approved flotation devices will be permitted only in the designated are of the main pool. The device must be attached to the child to aid in swimming. An adult must accompany and directly supervise the child. Rafts or tubes are not permitted in the pool.
• Smoking, glass containers, alcohol, pets, bicycles, and unruly behavior are strictly prohibited.

Failure to adhere to the pool regulations, and the rules posted at the pools,
MAY RESULT IN REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP.

Clifton Park to Open Pools Beginning May 26^th, 2024
Learn to Swim classes offered in July

The Town of Clifton Park will be opening the Town pools beginning on Memorial Day weekend and the popular Learn to Swim program will return with two sessions of classes.

Registration is open.  The schedule for each pool will be the following:

1. Country Knolls- May 26^th- August 18^th
2. Barney Road Pool- May 26^th- August 18^th
3. Locust Lane Pool – June 26^th- August 18^th

The August 18^th closing date is tentative, based on staffing levels.  If the Town has enough lifeguards employed to keep pools open later than August 18^th, we will adjust to the available staffing levels and continue to operate the pools for Clifton Park families past August 18^th. 

The Town will also offer our popular Learn to Swim program again in 2024.  Registration will open on June 3^rd.  The number of children who can register for the program will depend on the number of lifeguards available to teach the classes. The lessons will be conducted at the Country Knolls Pool and the schedule will be the following:

1. Session 1 – July 8^th- July 19^th
2. Session 2 – July 22^nd- August 2^nd

The Town of Clifton Park’s three municipal pools, Barney Road, Country Knolls and Locust Lane will have staggered closing schedules to extend the pool season as much as possible. The Locust Lane Pool will close on Sunday, August 18^th, Barney Road Pool will close on Friday, August 23^rd and the Country Knolls Pool will remain open through Sunday, August 25^th.  The original closure date for this year was tentatively set for August 18, 2024. Staffing for all three pools will allow the Town to extend the season for an additional week.

The pools are open seven days a week from 12pm to 8pm.  Seasonal membership includes unlimited visits to all three facilities throughout the season and the option to purchase guest passes for friends and family.  Half price memberships are currently available for the end of the season and can be purchased at www.CliftonPark.org.

The 2024 pools season began on Memorial Day Weekend with Country Knolls and Barney Road pools being the first to open on May 26^th.  All three were open for residents to enjoy beginning June 26^th.  The Town also hosted another successful Learn To Swim program, offering two sessions at the Country Knolls Pool.

Supervisor Barrett would like to thank the dedicated lifeguards, water safety instructors and pool managers, as well as the Buildings and Grounds staff for another successful summer season.

“Our aggressive lifeguard recruitment efforts, free lifeguard training courses in partnership with Saratoga County and the commitment of our pool staff has gradually increased our staffing levels and service capabilities, since the Covid Pandemic said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett.  All Learn to Swim registrants were accepted, people will be able to visit the pools later into the Summer this year and the return of open swim for day campers are positive developments for the 2024 pool season.”
