Healthy Lawns, Healthy Lands in Clifton Park Program

Committee recommends screeing a video on YouTube.com, "Growing a Green Lawn"  to listen to Dave Chinery discuss organic lawn care, as part of the "Healthy Lawns, Healthy Lands of Clifton Park Program".  Dave Chinery, Horticulture Turf Management Sr. Resource Educator, is from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, and is a resource to the community.  There is no fee for this public program available online. The Town of Clifton Park in partnership with it’s Government Re-Thinking Energy & Environment Now (G.R.E.E.N.) Committee desires to expand public education about alternatives to chemical treatment for lawns, by delivering public education to homeowners and property owners.  

SAY YES TO A HEALTHY LAWN! 

Take a pledge to maintain a pesticide-free lawn:

1) Watch the "Growing a Green Lawn" educational video with presenter Dave Chinery.

2) Stop by Town of Clifton Park Town Hall to pick up the  small lawn marker, and sign the pledge sheet.

3) Display the "Pesticide-Free" Lawn sign prominently on your healthy property.

4) If you would like, please feel free to send us a photo of your healthy lawn displaying the sign!  By sending the photo with your permission, the Town may use the photo on this website or the Town's social media.  Please submit any photos by September 25, 2020 by e-mail to: This email address is being protected from spambots. Organic Lawn Care 30-Hour Course:  In February 2020, the Town and the GREEN Committee presented a free, 4-Day, 30-Hour, Professional Training about Organic Lawn and Land Care, developed by the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA), with this specific course  taught by CT-NOFA, to meet its goal of providing focused workforce and professional development training about Organic Lawn and Land Care to businesses and individuals in the Town of Clifton Park, Saratoga County and neighboring vicinity. More than 50 people participated throughout the course sessions, led by experts and professionals in the organic landscaping business.  The 30-Hour Organic Land and Lawn Care Course was held on Feb. 24-27, 2020.  The 30-Hour training was designed for existing landscaping businesses, landscape workers, property managers, and private/public grounds crew, and others interested in this field, and will be open to the public.  Course topics included: ecological soil health, organic fertilizers, mulching, natural pest control, site analysis, organic turfgrass  management and lawn alternatives, stormwater management, marketing and more.  The course was made possible by a grant from the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute, as funded by the Enviromental Protection Fund, administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
