COVID-19 Information for Saratoga County - April 6, 2020

The Saratoga County Department of Public Health today announced that there are 163 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saratoga County and 15 of those individuals are hospitalized at this time. Sadly, three Saratoga County residents who had tested positive for COVID-19 have passed away. This brings the total number of deaths of COVID-19 positive individuals in the county to four. New York State has reported another death, and the Saratoga County Department of Public Health is continuing to investigate that report.

Two men in their mid to late 80’s from Clifton Park died while at Ellis Hospital, a third 59-year-old Ballston Spa man died at Saratoga Hospital.

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of these Saratoga County residents who had tested positive for COVID-19,” said Town of Day Supervisor Preston Allen, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. “Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of this residents. Together, we must continue to stay strong as a community, and do our part to prevent the spread of this virus.”

On Sunday, the Saratoga County Department of Public Health issued a message to residents using the CodeRED Emergency Alert System. The message read, “We are strongly recommending that our residents wear a mask if they need to go out in public. Masks can be homemade as described on the Center for Disease Control website. The mask should cover your nose and mouth snugly. A mask is an added layer of protection but does not replace social distancing. Please keep more than 6 feet from people, and avoid touching your face. Consider having your groceries picked up or delivered to you to reduce your exposure. We understand these are stressful times and your local public health department continues to work around the clock for your safety. We are all in this together and each one of us has to do our part to flatten the curve.”
