Town of Clifton Park
The Town Board is considering replacing the large playground on The Common. The idea has been discussed publicly in recent years and the Town has received a significant amount of opinions regarding a new playground design. In 2022, Supervisor Barrett announced the Town was notified of a $250,000 NYS grant that would be available for the project.
The playground has offered a wonderful experience for countless children over the years. Our goal is to further the legacy of this Town landmark. The new plan under consideration would have the same look and feel as the current park with many of the same characteristics.
A new structure would offer many benefits such as modern materials, the latest safety code standards, new and expanded number of fun elements for children to enjoy and the new playground will be designed to be accessible for all children. The current structure is decades old and comprised of wood. Our Town personnel do a great job as they spend a significant amount of time maintaining the structure to ensure the safest possible experience for families. Each year brings new challenges with the condition of the structure.
There are many new elements that are being considered in the proposal. The proposed design will be reviewed at the Town Board Meeting on April 3rd. Renderings of the plan will be available for residents to view prior to the meeting beginning at 6pm.
