Clifton Park Reopening - Town Board Assisting Businesses
The Town of Clifton Park Town Board will introduce an effort to assist local restaurants, bars, and eateries by establishing an expedient, no cost process when applying for a permit to operate with outdoor seating under Phase 2.
The Town Board’s goal is to provide maximum flexibility for businesses establishing additional outdoor seating consistent with New York State Department of Health minimum state standards as recently announced by Governor Cuomo. Specifically, permits for tents or inflatable structures for outdoor events and seating.
The enforcement of local ordinances relative to site plan approvals for modifications to existing facilities for temporary modifications and expansions of seating capacity within the Town would be suspended through October 15, 2020.
The temporary Outdoor Seating Permit would be issued by the Town’s Director of Building & Development. Once businesses have been issued their permit, they will be able to begin outdoor seating immediately. Fees for the temporary permit will be waived.

“The hospitality industry in Clifton Park is responsible for creating many jobs throughout our community and offering leisure opportunities for families, said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. Unfortunately, many people in the restaurant industry have lost their job and business owners have lost significant income during NY ONPAUSE. Allowing for additional capacity in a safe manner, while following the applicable NYS regulations will improve business conditions and create job opportunities.”
