The Clifton Park Town Board has announced that County Waste will once again be conducting free, curbside yard waste pick-up service for Clifton Park residents in 2019. The service will be offered from April through the end of November weather permitting. Now that the inclement winter weather has passed, County Waste will begin training runs the week of April 1st with official pickup beginning on Monday, April 8th.
“The Town is once again appreciative of its partnership with County Waste which offers this important service free to the taxpayers of Clifton Park. This massive recycling program not only keeps natural materials out of the waste stream, it benefits Clifton Park residents by providing free yard mulch,” said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett.
Leaves, grass clippings, tree and shrub trimmings and other brush will be collected in brown paper yard waste bags only. The yard waste along with the bags are recycled through a processing system. No yard waste will be collected from garbage cans or any other containers. Small, bundled brush that is less than four feet long and six inches in diameter will also be collected. Bundles need to be tied to allow for easy pick-up and disposal.
Items that will not be collected include animal waste of any kind, tree or shrub roots of any type, tree stumps or logs, waste products including household garbage, pressure treated wood, railroad ties, building debris, plastic, metal or other foreign materials.
Weekly yard waste pickup days will be Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Residents that live South of Ballston Lake Road and Kinns Road will have their pick-ups on Monday or Tuesday. Residents North of Kinns Road and Ballston Lake Road will have their yard waste picked up on Fridays. At various times of the year when yard waste debris pick up is heavier than normal, pick-up days can deviate from the established schedule.
Residents are reminded not to place bags of yard waste at the curb for collection until the night before pick-up day to avoid inclement weather and bag spillage.
The Town Transfer Station also accepts yard waste all year long during regular business hours from Clifton Park residents only. No permit is needed but an ID is required. Extended hours at the Transfer Station for Spring Clean Up / Green Up activities will include Sundays April 28th and May 5th for the collection of leaves and brush only.
