Supervisor Barrett throughout this week continues to speak with community partners and organizations that serve Clifton Park.
A concern currently is the fact that while many older people with potential health concerns are smartly remaining home and not following their normal daily regimen, they still may need some services. In the current situation, the need may be longer than normal.
Therefore, we are asking for volunteers for two programs.
First, the Town of Clifton Park helps fund Care Links of Southern Saratoga County, a program to keep people living independently in their homes as long as possible without duplicating other, well-established services. Volunteers for the program assist senior citizens with rides, daily tasks and social visits. Our immediate concern is helping people by being available to run errands or brings supplies. Volunteers willing to assist can visit CAPTAIN Community Human Services at https://captaincares.org/care-links/care-links.html or call 518-399-3262 for more information
We also have a congregate lunch program in Saratoga County similar to Meals on Wheels. Daily, eligible individuals come to the Clifton Park Senior Community Center for lunch or have meals delivered to their homes. The concern is that with less people visiting the Center in person there is a need for additional drivers to bring meals to their homes. For those interesting in serving as drivers, please contact Emma at the Saratoga County Office for the Aging at 518-884-4100.
The Town of Clifton Park is putting this call out in advance. At this point we are not sure of the future needs, but your commitment will provide flexibility in planning.
Thank you for your consideration to assist the senior citizens in our community. Together we will serve our fellow residents in their time of need.
