The Town of Clifton Park will offer a free curbside bulk waste pickup this Spring from April 16th through May 12th.
For several consecutive years the Town of Clifton Park had conducted a curbside bulk waste pick-up for Clifton Park residents. After a lower participation in 2014, it was decided that the Town would provide this free service to residents in alternating years.
The Town received one response to a RFP for the service, from County Waste at a cost of $108,000.00
“County Waste is the only company that has ever responded to our Bulk Waste Pick-Up RFP,” said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. “Thankfully, County Waste is willing to provide the service and over the years the company has not raised the price substantially. Without their cooperation and fair pricing we could not offer this popular program.”
Two weeks prior to the pick-up beginning, residents will receive a mailing from County Waste. The mailing will inform residents when they can expect to have their items picked up, along with a list of items that are either eligible or not allowed to be included in the program. For example, electronics cannot be picked up as part of this program. The Town will also post information on the Town website as details become available. The Town will be divided into three geographical areas. Each area will be assigned a pick-up week. Therefore, depending on the location of your home, pick-up weeks will vary. Residents will be asked to place their waste at their curb the Sunday evening of their assigned week. County Waste will contact apartment complexes to arrange for delivery and placement of dumpsters in the complex for one time pick-up during the program period.
The Town Transfer Station on Vischer Ferry Road accepts bulk items for disposal throughout the year. A Transfer Station permit fee is not required to dispose of bulk waste, but each item will cost a reasonable fee. For a listing of acceptable items and the applicable fee schedule, residents may visit the Transfer Station’s section of the Town’s website at www.CliftonPark.org/TownHall/Transfer-Station/
The Town also has a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and accepts donations of certain items at the Transfer Station. For information on what types of items are accepted and how to donate, residents can visit http://cliftonpark.org/index.php/document-center/transfer-station/1799-clifton-park-and-restore-flyer/file for details. For certain items, Habitat for Humanity will even come to Clifton Park for pick-up.
