Late 2017 we released information about improvements being considered for the Playground on the Common(Kids’ Corner). As we consider options and ideas for the park, we provided an update at last evening’s Town Board Meeting on two items.
The first is an initial design for new playground equipment being considered for the front left quadrant of the park. As you park behind the ice arenas and enter the park, this equipment would be installed in the front of the park on your immediate left. The equipment would cater to younger children, ages 2-6, and feature a rubber matting floor. The current playground equipment in this area would be removed. The second item discussed is the future of the brick path that surrounds the park. Many of the bricks feature the names of people that sponsored the original construction of the playground. After decades of foot traffic, the elements and tree roots the brick path has become compromised. We have discussed replacing the brick path and ensuring people that sponsored the park have the opportunity to retain their brick as a memento. As a replacement to the brick path, people would have the opportunity to purchase a paver. The pavers would be used to construct a decorative wall in the front of the park.
Below are pictures of the proposed design for the Kid's Corner from four different angles.
